Once you’ve created  your own patient you’ll be able to personalize most any aspect of it, including the conversation settings of your patient’s state(s).

Your Patient Communication Simulator comes with some complex conversation settings though, and incorrectly editing those can lead to your patient becoming confused, giving you incorrect answers or no answers at all.

You can avoid this of course by getting to know the logic of the conversation settings buildup.

When you open a patient state from under the State tab and go to the Conversations tab (as explained here) you’ll find a table  with three columns: Category, Topic and Response and Questions.

Once you click on a Category, you'll see a number of items appearing under the Topic and Response column. Likewise, if you click on an item in the Topic and Response column, you'll see a number of items appearing under Questions column.

Let's spend a moment understanding what these columns are meant for.

In the above example we've selected the category "2. Intro", the Topic and Response item "1. name", then we received a list of different question items.

The questions you see here are all the questions that you can ask the patient about their name. Each and every one of these questions will be categorized by ALEX as belonging to the Topic and response item "1. name". From this point on ALEX knows that the answer to give for any question listed in Questions column is the answer that is defined for him under the Topic and Response item "1. name" , which is "My name is ALEX.".

Great, now that we've covered the logic and build-up of the table, click here to learn how to get started with the existing content available under your patient’s conversation settings here.
