To activate and deactivate conversations with your patient in the VERA app using verbal queues, you’ll be using the Wake-on-Name feature.

First make sure to start a simulation in the VERA app.

To activate conversations with the "Wake-on-Name" feature you’ll need to wait for at least a 5 second silence around you for the app to know you are speaking to it. Then say a sentence with your patient’s name, like “Hello Vera!”.

You’ll hear a beep-beep sound signalling that conversations have been activated.

You’ll also receive a visual confirmation that conversations have been activated in the VERA apps as follow:

  • In the VERA app for Oculus Go, you’ll see that the controller’s touch surface will turn red, like this:
  • In the VERA app for Oculus Rift, you’ll see that the top surface of the controller will turn red, like this:
  • In  the VERA app for Windows you’ll see that the conversation bubble in the bottom right hand corner will turn red.

You can always deactivate conversations with your patient simply by saying “Thank you”.

You’ll hear again a beep-beep sound signalling that conversations have been deactivated and you’ll also receive a visual confirmation of this as the controller area / conversation bubble previously lit up will no longer be red.
